How to deposit samples in the Biobank

After informed consent has been obtained, the Basque Biobank collects samples for subsequent storage and use for research purposes in the context of the following processes:

• Unused samples from a IRB approved research project.
• Unused diagnostic samples. Remnants of samples (blood, biopsies, etc.) used in standard diagnostic techniques.
• Deposition of samples collected for no health-related reason in the Biobank. For example, a blood sample from a patient already diagnosed with a rare disease of interest for future research projects.
• Autopsies: removal of brain tissue and/or spinal cord samples for research.
